Welcome to this edition of the Fundraise Feature, in which we bring you an overview of the Seed - Series B tech fundraises from across the United Kingdom and New York, that were announced in the month of July.

United Kingdom

July came in hot not only in temperature but also in the amount of capital invested, which totalled £1.28 billion! 🔥 During the past month, the UK had 44 companies successfully close deals and secure funding from over 170 investors, with the largest deal totalling £350M.

Highest Capital Investment

July’s investment trends highlighted three standout sectors in terms of capital raised: SaaS, FinTech, and Cryptocurrency/Blockchain.

SaaS led investment activity with £588M raised across 14 deals, reflecting investor confidence in scalable, subscription-based software models. FinTech followed closely, attracting £566M over 7 deals, driven by ongoing innovation in digital banking, payments, and financial infrastructure. Meanwhile, the Cryptocurrency and Blockchain sector secured £489M through 6 deals, highlighting continued interest in decentralized technologies and their potential to reshape traditional systems. 

AI & Machine Learning deserves recognition for completing 16 deals, the most of any sector in July, even though it didn’t secure the highest total funding.

We would like to extend our congratulations to a few standout companies in these sectors for their impressive fundraising successes:


  • Xelix, a developer of enterprise software as a service that provides an AI-powered control centre for accounts payable teams, has raised an impressive £118M in their Series B funding. 
  • PhysicsX, a machine learning application to enhance physics simulations in physical design and engineering, has secured £100M in their Series B funding round. 
  • Zodia Markets, a digital asset exchange and brokerage platform focused on providing secure trading solutions, has successfully obtained nearly £14M in Series A funding round.

Notable Investors

As we highlight in each edition, investors are the beating heart of the startup ecosystem, driving innovation and growth by backing bold ideas with both capital and confidence. 

These were the most active investors from the past month:


  • Phoenix Court, who supported Xelix and Gradient Labs.
  • Norrsken VC, backing Sava and Sunsave in their Series A funding rounds. 
  • I2BF Global Ventures, providing capital to Brandstak and Litero. 


Funding Stages

As a community of early-stage finance leaders, founders, and investors in the tech startup space, we focus on the Seed to Series B funding stages.

This is how the capital investment allocation was split between these stages in July:

  • 72% of capital invested was allocated towards Series B rounds across 7 deals, as companies at this stage are more stable and predictable, making it attractive for investors seeking more security.
  • Series A funding rounds accounted for just over 20%, with 13 deals in total, a stage were capital is normally used to optimise growth channels, expand the team, and enter new markets, paving the way for rapid scaling.
  • The remaining 7.41% were invested into Seed rounds, with a total of 24 deals being made, with startups at this stage often developing cutting-edge products or disruptive technologies.


Summary

July was a standout month for UK startup investment, with £1.28B raised across 44 deals and over 170 investors involved. SaaS led the charge with £588M, followed by FinTech with £566M raised and Cryptocurrency/Blockchain securing £489M. 

Series B rounds dominated, accounting for 72% of capital, Series A made up just over 20%, while Seed rounds, though smaller in capital, saw the highest number of deals.


New York

New York saw an equally busy July, with 55 deals being completed with the support of 196 investors who provided a whopping $956M of capital, with the largest deal completed reaching $250M. 

Highest Capital Investment

Among the most heavily invested industries in New York, FinTech, SaaS, and AI & Machine Learning emerged as the clear frontrunners.

FinTech led the way with $526M in investment, mirroring the strong investor appetite for innovation in financial services and infrastructure that we also saw across the UK. SaaS followed with $477M, reaffirming the sector’s ongoing appeal. AI & Machine Learning attracted $352M, and while it ranked third in total capital raised, it saw the highest deal volume, with 25 in total. 

We are excited to spotlight the companies that successfully secured funding in July’s most heavily invested industries:


  • Savvy Wealth, a developer of a wealth management platform that facilitates personalized financial planning through collaboration, received $72M in their Series B round. 
  • Rilla, a voice recognition software that captures conversations, successfully obtained $68.5M in their Series B funding round. 
  • Trunk Tools, an AI platform aimed at streamlining construction data management, automating tasks, and reducing waste, has raised $40M in their Series B round. 


Notable Investors

  • Andreessen Horowitz, invested into Diode Computers, Fortuna Health, Moment and Wingspan.
  • BoxGroup, supported Diode Computers, Heron Data and Zip.


Funding Stages

Our focus lies primarily on the Seed through Series B funding stages, so we can better support our network of early-stage finance professionals, founders, and investors in the tech startup ecosystem.

This is how the capital allocation was spread out between the different funding stages:

  • Nearly 50% was allocated towards Series A deals across 16 deals, reflecting investor confidence in startups that have demonstrated early product-market fit and are ready to scale operations.
  • Series B received a generous third of the total capital invested in 9 successful deals, indicating strong backing for companies with proven traction and the potential for rapid expansion.
  • Investment in Seed stages made up the remaining 16.68% across 28 deals, highlighting continued interest in backing innovative early-stage ventures with high growth potential and disruptive ideas.


Summary

July saw $956M invested across 55 deals in New York, backed by 196 investors. 

FinTech led with $526M, followed by SaaS at $477M. AI & Machine Learning raised $352M across 25 deals — the highest volume by sector.

Nearly half of all invested capital went to Series A, reflecting strong support for scaling startups. Series B took a third of funding, while Seed rounds accounted for 16.68% across 28 deals, showing steady interest in early-stage innovation.
